About our Funding Programs

Each year the Department provides in excess of $40 million through funding programs towards new and improved opportunities for people to participate in sport and active recreation.

Young Athlete Assistance Program NOW OPEN
This Program aims to assist young athletes within Queensland who have competed at a State or State School Championship, National or National School Championship or International Championship.

Sport and Recreation Disaster Assistance Program CLOSED
Provides sport and recreation clubs with financial assistance to recover from damage caused by the storms that devastated parts of Queensland.

Club Development Program CLOSED
Provides funding to undertake education and training initiatives, participation initiatives, organisational planning and to recognise volunteer support.

Eat Well Be Active Community Partnership Program 2008 CLOSED
This program is a Queensland Obesity Summit initiative providing funding to support the development and delivery of healthy lifestyle programs at the local level.

Flood Recovery Program CLOSED
Developed to provide one-off financial assistance to sport and active recreation organisations to assist in re-establishing sport and active recreation.

Local Sport and Recreation Program CLOSED
Provides funding to local governments, Aboriginal Shire councils and Torres Strait Islander Community councils in a number of sport and active recreation opportunities.

Major Facilities Program CLOSED
Provides funding to develop and enhance sport and active recreation infrastructure to meet community participation needs; support local, regional and state levels of competition; and enable Queensland to attract and host key events.

Minor Facilities Program CLOSED
Provides funding to undertake minor construction, extension or upgrade works to sport and recreation facilities for local sporting competitions and for community participation in active recreation.

South East Queensland Trail Bikes and Off-Road Vehicles Program CLOSED
Offers an incentive to establish commercial operations outside urban areas of South East Queensland to cater for trail bike riding and four-wheel driving.

Sport and Recreation Development Program CLOSED
Provides funding to state sport and active recreation organisations and industry service organisations. These funds support organisational development and enhance delivery of their services.
