The Honourable Phil Reeves MP
Minister for Child Safety and Sport
The Hon. Phil Reeves, Minister for Child Safety and Minister for Sport is well qualified to represent Queensland’s sporting and recreation interests.
His experience includes many years of being a coach, manager and administrator at both local club level and regional level and formal training with a Bachelor of Leisure Management from Griffith University.
He also has hands-on experience operating a small business in sports and community management and marketing.
Mr Reeves’ focus has always been about creating opportunities for children and young people to reach their full potential, whether it be developing a junior sports club or establishing a Police-Citizens Youth Club, such as the innovative Mt Gravatt PCYC.
He is excited about the synergies of the two areas under his guidance and he will be focusing on giving children and young people the skills to reach their full potential, whether it be on the sporting arena or in life itself.
Since his election as the State Member for Mansfield in June 1998, he has been a keen supporter and patron of the many sporting groups in his electorate.
As a married father of three young children, Phil Reeves is also committed to encouraging families and children to become involved in sport and recreation.
This commitment extends to the broader Queensland community, and Minister Reeves will work toward meeting the Bligh Government Toward Q2 ambition of making Queenslanders Australia’s healthiest people.
